We are seeking an experienced project development leader to help shape and deliver large-scale transmission infrastructure projects across Australia.
This is a strategically important role within a growing transmission team focused on enabling the energy transition through Renewable Energy Zones (REZs), interconnectors, and private grid connections — including future offshore wind and hydro projects.
The Role
As Transmission Project Development Manager, you’ll lead the early-stage development of transmission infrastructure projects, progressing them from concept through to investment-ready stage.
You will:
- Spearhead feasibility studies, network design inputs, risk identification, and development strategies.
- Drive competitive bids for nationally significant projects such as interconnectors and REZ connections.
- Work closely with joint venture partners and Tier 1 D&C contractors to develop technically and commercially robust delivery models.
- Coordinate across engineering, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure development aligns with constructability and schedule outcomes.
- Engage with regulatory stakeholders, landowners, and technical consultants throughout the lifecycle.
- Provide financial and contractual oversight, ensuring project frameworks incentivise outcomes and align with strategic cost and risk profiles.
- Transition into delivery readiness activities post-award, including procurement planning, design integration, and contractor engagement.
To be successful, you will bring:
- 15+ years’ experience in energy infrastructure, ideally with depth in high-voltage transmission development.
- Exposure to both TNSP and EPC/D&C environments, with a strong appreciation of delivery constraints and JV frameworks.
- A comprehensive understanding of linear infrastructure, particularly substation and overhead line interfaces (e.g., 132kV to 500kV networks).
- Proven experience working across multidisciplinary project teams — engineering, commercial, procurement — and external stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of project financing principles, CAPEX modelling, and contract structuring in major infrastructure projects.
- Ability to lead development within JV environments, where accountability is shared and negotiation is critical.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to operate across technical and executive audiences.
- A proactive, self-managing style — able to operate with minimal oversight in a lean, hands-on team.
Why Join?
This is a foundational role — you won’t inherit a legacy portfolio, you’ll help build one. The team is small, highly capable, and deeply engaged in shaping Australia’s long-term energy infrastructure. With a flat structure, direct access to executive leadership, and weekly engagement with global stakeholders, this is a unique opportunity to help establish a multi-state TNSP from the ground up.
