Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Traffic Operations Supervisor for immediate employment at one of our client traffic operations center facilities in the Detroit, MI area. Traffic operations centers provide a centralized location for stakeholder communications, information dissemination, asset management, and traffic monitoring. This position will work full time on-site at our client location in Detroit, MI. The applicant will need to be professional, self-motivated, resourceful, and able to successfully execute various tasks in a fast-paced environment with ever changing priorities. Job Description: The Traffic Operations Supervisor will oversee day-to-day operations at the client location, providing hands-on leadership and support to engineering and operator teams, client management, engineering, and law enforcement personnel and external client stakeholders. This role involves the management of daily operations including traffic monitoring, incident detection and response coordination, asset monitoring, and special event management and response. The successful candidate will provide efficient and effective operations within the traffic management center, maintaining high standards of communication and technical performance. _This position is expected to begin in September 2024._ Job Responsibilities and Expectations: + Oversee the daily activities of the traffic management center, ensuring adherence to established procedures and protocols + Ensure the overall quality of staff work and oversee the completion of projects and tasks + Monitor agency software for signal malfunctions and alerts, use agency systems to generate work orders and confirm maintenance workflow is completed successfully + Coordinate with traffic signal operations engineers to deploy special event traffic signal patterns using on-site software tools in accordance with special event schedule needs + Coordinate with City, County, and State regional operations staff on monthly special events calendar and traffic signal management needs for major planned events in downtown Detroit + Manage control room operators on daily system monitoring tasks and system status verification + Conduct field reviews to verify and provide feedback on special event maintenance-of-traffic (MOT) plans + Interact with City staff and City stakeholders - both public and private - as they relate to traffic management and/or special events coordination + Conduct real-time traffic signal operations reviews during special event traffic ingress and egress, as well as PM peak traffic hours to identify traffic issues that should be communicated to engineering staff and management + Develop relationships with relevant stakeholders, including other City departments that share the operations space with the traffic management center + Provide regular communication and updates to the AECOM TMC Project Manager as well as the City of Detroit TMC Manager + Support engineering and operator team with additional tasks as needed/as appropriate Qualifications Minimum Requirements + BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Valid Michigan driver's license Preferred Requirements + BA/BS + 8 or more years prior experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Must pass a state and federal criminal history/security background check + Flexibility in scheduling for special events, incidents, and emergencies + Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office suite of applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Effective communication skills and ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences including management, stakeholders, engineers, and law enforcement + Punctual attendance is mandatory + Technical literacy in English + Self-motivation and adherence to operational policies. Adaptability to changing environments and priorities, with ability to work under pressure. Multitasking capabilities. + Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources including automated road sensor data, closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, arterial traffic management systems (ATMS), and other technical traffic/ITS software + International Municipal Signal Association Certifications + Experience with traffic signal software and systems in a traffic operations center environment + Experience in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) operations and maintenance + Experience in transportation systems management and operations (TSMO) + Previous leadership or supervisory experience + Field work experience in construction or traffic and familiarity with required safety procedures and protocols Additional Information Additional information + This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization + This position does not include relocation benefit Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
