JOB DESCRIPTION: Book 7 certificate and / or minimum 1 full year of Traffic Control in a reputable Company is a MUST! Emergency Traffic Control is seeking a motivated, experienced Traffic Controller to join our growing team. The Traffic Controller is responsible for overseeing the traffic,road closuresand flagging. This position reports to the operations Manager and will work in conjunction with the operations Manager to ensure that all aspects of the intersection are operating safely, efficiently, and productively. The position requires a strong understanding of intersection operations, as well as being a proactive problem-solver who can anticipate and solve problems that may arise. The position also requires excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment. QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a road construction field. Experience with road construction and traffic control is necessary. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Knowledge of transportation and intersection operations is required. This person must be able to work part of a team. Book 7 training will be first considered RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise the operation of automated red light and stop-controlled intersections under his or her direction. This includes reviewing intersection reports, analyzing traffic conditions, installing sensors, coordinating with other departments, etc. This includes being able to perform all aspects of intersection operations including: directing employees, providing technical assistance to installers when needed, installing signs and logos on intersections, etc. This includes being able to perform all physical requirements of this position including lifting up to 50 lbs., Analyze traffic conditions and create plans for future improvements to the intersection(s). This includes creating maps for new or improve existing intersections and installing sensors as needed. This includes being able to interpret data such as vehicle speeds, time spent in stop zones, wait times, etc. This includes being able to perform all physical requirements of this position including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods of time, working in an outdoor environment.
