HilltopSecurities is looking to hire a Junior Trader. We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Trader with a strong foundation in programming and data management to join our Structured Products Group. The ideal candidate will work closely with senior traders on the desk to support all trading functions while also contributing to the development and maintenance of trading tools, data pipelines, and analytics frameworks.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Assist senior traders in the analysis and execution of trades across both RMBS and ABS marketplace
• Automate workflows for data surveillance, reporting, and analysis
• Build and maintain trading models, dashboards, and surveillance tools using python, sql, and excel
• Interact with back and middle office to ensure smooth trade settlement
• Perform daily trading desk operations including security reconciliation and position management
• Stay up to date on RMBS and ABS market dynamics, credit trends, and regulatory developments
  
  
  

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Accounting, or related field
• Strong accounting and mathematical skills
• Proficient in Python, SQL, and Excel
• Minimum five years investment experience
• Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses
• Working knowledge of personal computers and software utilized by the department.
• Thorough knowledge of fixed income products.
• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and management, as well as interaction with customers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Bloomberg, Intex, or other structured product data/system providers
• Prior exposure to MBS or ABS trading desk
