The Tesla Energy Products team is bringing battery and solar technology to the grid to facilitate a renewable energy ecosystem and redefine the way the world will use energy in the future. As part of the Thermal Controls team, you are the thermal system integration lead that ensures optimal performance of thermal systems that make Tesla Energy products like Megapack, Supercharger and Powerwall world class. This role involves collaboration with multiple teams, including engineering, manufacturing, firmware, and service. It also requires the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to testing and integration of thermal systems that are at the core of Tesla’s success. What You'll Do
Develop and execute automated and manual tests to validate thermal system performance across various operating conditionsWork closely with control and firmware engineers to validate and improve thermal control algorithms for all energy productsPerform system validation of current and next generation Tesla Energy productsAnalyze fleet and test data to identify issues and recommend improvementsValidate thermal system simulation results with experimental dataPrepare technical reports and test summaries for stakeholdersWork cross-functionally with controls, firmware, mechanical design, and reliability organizations
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering, or equivalent experience2+ years of experience with thermal system integrationExcellent understanding of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, and thermal components (pumps, compressors, expansion valves, fans, etc.)Experience in working with hardware and/or test-benches to evaluate thermal system performance, as well as firmware integrationExceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systemsProficiency with Python (read/write) and C (read)Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally, work hands-on, and execute on open-ended projects in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environmentPreferred: Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, CAN tools (PCAN, CANape, CANalyzer), and data acquisition (DAQ) systems

Expected Compensation
$112,000 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
