Thermal Testing Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Rate: $30-38/hour

Duration: long-term contract

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Thermal Testing Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will work closely with our lead engineer to set up and conduct various thermal, acoustic, and wind tunnel tests. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Set up wind tunnel, acoustic, and thermal couples on systems with guidance from the lead engineer.
• Work under the instruction of the lead engineer and perform light debugging when encountering obstacles.
• Manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a strong analytical approach.
• Compile and present data in a readable format using MS Office tools.
• Conduct brief analyses and troubleshoot issues related to thermal hardware, including fans, heatsinks, and thermal interface materials.
• Perform simple coding tasks using Unix.
• Assist in analyzing data using spreadsheets and Excel.
• Conduct thermal tests, including acoustic tests, wind tunnel tests, and imaging equipment assessments, to identify any issues related to humidity and temperature.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Ability to set up wind tunnel, acoustic, and thermal couples on systems with guidance.
• Experience working under the instruction of a lead engineer and performing light debugging.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to compile data into a readable format.
• Basic knowledge of thermal engineering, including fans, heatsinks, and thermal interface materials.
• Good overall understanding of engineering concepts.
• Excellent communication skills and a responsible attitude.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Knowledge of Python.
• Experience with Unix.
• Proficiency in Excel or other spreadsheet tools.
