Summary

Position Summary: This role involves developing and maintaining expert-level skills in testing power transformers. The technician will conduct low-voltage tests such as ratio, Doble, and megger, as well as high-voltage dielectric tests like impulse, applied voltage, induced voltage, loss measurement, sound testing, and SFRA. Key Responsibilities: * Perform all required tests on transformers, control boxes, components, and subassemblies following established procedures and instructions. * Develop and maintain expertise in testing controls and auxiliary devices, including control box pre-test, fan motor and LTC wiring, functional tests, LTC oil filter pre-test, CT wiring, relay tests, and electronic instrumentation such as ETM and gas analyzers. * Handle non-conformities according to procedures, including documentation and segregation. * Troubleshoot failures based on guidelines or under supervision. * Conduct preventive maintenance and uphold 5S principles in workstations, test equipment, test floor, and offices. * Calculate and verify test parameters, ensuring compliance with product standards. * Record and analyze test results, compiling final test reports. * Move and set up transformers, assemblies, and auxiliary devices for testing. * Maintain cleanliness and order in the test floor facilities. * Document non-conformances and assist in troubleshooting. * Generate preliminary test reports. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Comprehensive knowledge of power transformer testing and auxiliary apparatus. * Strong ability to document and calculate test results for product acceptance or rejection. * Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PC-based test equipment. * Ability to perform technical calculations systematically and error-free. * Understanding of electricity and related safety regulations. * Commitment to continuous improvement and technical competency. * Ability to perform basic electrical engineering calculations and interpret results. * Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE and IEC. * Capability to work with high voltages in a controlled environment. * Strong communication skills for interaction with various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, planning, and marketing. * Proficiency in operating test apparatus, controls, and instrumentation with a thorough knowledge of facility limitations and safety regulations. * Detail-oriented report writing and documentation skills. * Competency in electronic data entry and calculator usage. * Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet with fall protection. Education & Experience: Required: * Associate's degree in Power, High Voltage, Electrical Engineering, Utilities Engineering, Electro-Magnetic, or a related field. * OR 2+ years of experience in Transformer Factory/Field Testing. Preferred: * Associate's degree in Power, High Voltage, Electrical Engineering, Utilities Engineering, Electro-Magnetic, or a related field. * Experience with transformer/high-voltage equipment design, manufacturing, service, or testing. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
