Job Title: OTA Tester (Over-the-Air Tester)

Job Summary: As an OTA Tester, you will be responsible for testing and validating over-the-air (OTA) software updates and configurations for different ECUs. You will ensure that all OTA updates are implemented smoothly and function correctly across various devices and platforms. Your role will involve working closely with development teams to identify issues, report findings, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive testing of OTA updates, including firmware, software, and configuration changes.
- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for OTA functionalities.
- Should have a strong protocol-level understanding of UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) and DOIP (Diagnostics over Internet Protocol).
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Artifact servers, OTA portal services, campaign management, and fleet management software.
- 5+ years of experience in testing networking and/or automotive products.
- Implement good programming/scripting knowledge for developing automation scripts.
- Experience in building the test infrastructure and conducting automated overnight sanity testing.
- Document issues in detail and collaborate with developers to resolve them.
- Analyze test results and provide feedback to the development team to improve software quality.
- Participate in requirement reviews and design discussions to provide input on OTA testing strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in OTA testing and software validation.
- Prepare detailed test reports and documentation for stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of automated testing tools and frameworks for OTA testing, if applicable. - Work effectively as a team player, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in software testing, particularly with OTA updates and mobile/embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of OTA update protocols and automotive protocols such as UDS and DOIP.
- Strong debugging and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in the [specific industry relevant to the company, e.g., automotive, IoT, telecommunications].
- Knowledge of network protocols and communication technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, MQTT).
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
Protocols & Tools:
Experience in UDS and DOIP protocols.
- Familiarity with CAN, J1939, and LIN protocols.
- Proficient in using Vector tools, such as CANoe, CANalyzer, and CANape.
- Experience with CAN tools and scripting tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Pytest).
- Knowledge of tools like POSTMAN for API testing.
- Understanding of VPN, Mutual TLS, MQTT, and PKI.
