WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

Role

CoolIT Systems, Inc. is hiring a full-time Test Engineer (Reliability) to manage reliability testing and qualification activities at our Calgary facility.

In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and executing reliability tests to ensure the performance and durability of our products. You will set up and validate new testing equipment and processes, contributing significantly to the development of our reliability testing. Responsibilities include writing detailed test plans, conducting reliability assessments, analyzing test data, and supporting the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. Your expertise will be key in identifying potential failure modes and ensuring the long-term reliability of our products.

Reporting to Manager, Test and Qualification, this is an excellent opportunity for an independent and experienced reliability engineer who strives for testing excellence and wants to contribute to the future of scalable computer cooling solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automated reliability test equipment to evaluate the physical properties and functional performance of cooling systems, including passive cold plate loops and closed-loop desktop systems.
• Conduct physical, electrical, and software design of test equipment, including component selection, preparation of bills of materials, and integration into existing systems.
• Install, commission, and troubleshoot automated test stands and lab equipment to ensure optimal functionality and accuracy.
• Perform mechanical, fluid dynamic, and thermodynamic reliability testing on cooling equipment and components to assess their performance under various conditions.
• Execute test plans, analyze results, and present findings with a focus on their implications for design function and product reliability.
• Conduct thermal, material, mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing using universal testing machines, thermal chambers, vibration tables, and other specialized laboratory equipment.
• Review test results and compliance documentation to verify product adherence to both internal and external reliability standards.
• Participate in new product reviews and perform risk assessments to support qualification planning, ensuring product, component, and material requirements are thoroughly understood.
• Develop and enhance test processes and procedures to evaluate the performance and reliability of physical components and liquid cooling assemblies.
• Conduct statistical analysis of test data, plan and execute Design of Experiments (DoE), and apply lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve testing efficiency.
• Collaborate effectively with international teams across various time zones to ensure smooth communication and project alignment.
• Prepare and present technical reports and documentation to communicate test results, reliability assessments, and recommendations clearly.
  
  

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications:

• Masters or bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of related work experience
• The ability to use statistical analysis tools as well as the ability to interpret and communicate the results of the analysis.
• Proficiency in various reliability testing methods, including stress testing, life testing, and accelerated life testing.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting test data and identifying trends or anomalies.
• Knowledge of statistical techniques for reliability analysis, such as Weibull analysis and statistical process control.
• Ability to create comprehensive test plans and design test cases focused on reliability.
• Experience with defect management and tracking tools to monitor and report issues effectively.
• Proven experience in developing automated test equipment utilizing programmable logic controllers (PLCs), microcontrollers, embedded systems, etc.
• Experience with Data acquisition and collection of temperature, pressure, flow or similar data, and control of actuators, motors, and other electrical components.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of industry standards related to reliability testing, such as ISO 9001 and MIL-STD.
• Knowledge of programming tools such as Python, C/C++, etc
