Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Infotainment Test Engineer to support the validation and verification of in-vehicle infotainment systems through a combination of bench and in-vehicle testing. You would join our team in the Los Angeles CA area. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive electronics, a strong understanding of infotainment features, and a passion for delivering seamless user experiences. In this role you will be involved in the following:
Testing & Validation
Performing functional testing of infotainment systems on both HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) test benches and in-vehicle platforms
Validating infotainment features such as navigation, audio, Bluetooth, voice recognition, connectivity (USB, Wi-Fi, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay), CAN/LIN communication, and OTA updates
Conducting end-to-end system validation, including regression, stress, performance, and usability testing
Test Planning & Execution
Creating, executing, and maintaining test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on system requirements and feature specifications
Documenting test results, identify root causes of defects, and collaborate with developers, system engineers, and suppliers to resolve issues
Ensuring tests are repeatable and traceable across platforms and software versions
Tools & Equipment
Using diagnostic tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, and DTC readers to monitor communication and diagnose faults
Operating infotainment test benches and perform flash updates, configuration, and debugging as needed
Collecting and analyzing logs from infotainment units using tools like ADB, Syslogs, and Trace analysis
Collaboration & Reporting
Working closely with development, system integration, and QA teams across multiple time zones and suppliers
Providing regular test status updates, defect reports, and feedback to project stakeholders
Participating in test reviews, issue triage meetings, and milestone validation events
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of experience in automotive infotainment testing or system validation
Hands-on experience with in-vehicle testing, CAN tools, and test automation frameworks
Solid understanding of infotainment systems and vehicle network architecture (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
Familiarity with Android/Linux-based infotainment systems and command-line interfaces
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, HP ALM)
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or CAPL
ISTQB or similar software testing certification is a plus
Comfortable driving vehicles for validation purposes (valid driver’s license required)
Work Environment
Mix of lab/bench testing and on-road/in-vehicle testing
May require occasional travel to test tracks or supplier locations
Flexible working hours based on project needs (including early mornings or late evenings during testing cycles)
