Summary

The Test Engineer III will be part of the Hardware Engineering Team in our HVAC division, and will work closely with the Electrical Engineering department but must also interact with various other disciplines within the company. This position performs technical functions in support of product development activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype products. Potential for long term growth on this area as business grow and new members join this team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new test methodology for new and current technologies
  • Follow test plans to execute design verification tests accurately and efficiently
  • Hardware circuit evaluation and analysis
  • Evaluating and troubleshooting of PCBAs down to the component level
  • Ability to learn smart home products and devices, specifically smart thermostats, sensors, and other modern environment Control components
  • Accurately capturing and measuring circuit signal integrity parameters, current consumption, and validating system compliance per product specifications
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, diagrams, and test plans to conduct PCBA and assembled level measurements on new development projects
  • Create professional product design verification and failure analysis reports
  • Debugging and determining root cause for failures during failure analysis investigations. Creating in-depth failure analysis
  • reports to be shared with customers
  • Troubleshooting factory issues including test station setups, automated test system run-time errors, programming issues, test methodologies
  • Familiarity with IEC Standards in general


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hardware testing experience
  • Requires a strong foundation of electronic circuit theory with the ability to understand circuit functions from written or verbal instructions
  • Electronic trouble-shooting skills are a must
  • Requires a strong functional understanding of general test equipment
  • Experience with: Oscilloscopes, DMM's, Signal Generators, Power Supplies, and more
  • Knowledge of OrCAD/Altium/PADS Schematic capture and Layout tools
  • Basic Soldering/Re-work skills
  • HVAC, Smart Controllers, Sensors, and other small devices is a huge plus
  • PC knowledge (including MS Excel and MS Word)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • Proficiency in the English language a must
  • Must be detail-oriented and should possess good inter-personal skills to be able to interact with various engineering departments
  • Quick learner and able to take direction
