Gain valuable hands-on experience working in Solar's state-of-the-art closed loop compressor test cell. As a Test Engineer you will work on Solar's newest developmental compressors, as well as being part of a team qualifying each production compressor before it heads out to our customers. This critical role will accelerate your engineering skill set with multi-disciplinary opportunities beyond the traditional path.
Nature and Scope:
Coordinates, conducts, and documents development test programs of moderate scope which are usually well defined and for which most test facilities and procedures already exist. Assignments can be characterized as conventional with few complex features.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the general principles, theories and concepts of the design and operation of turbomachinery products based on the study of related technical engineering subjects. Requires good oral and written communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to comprehend and effectively integrate complex test instrumentation equipment and computerized data acquisition systems into test activities.
Problem Complexity:
Execute and develop test programs using well established testing techniques, instrumentation, facilities and procedures. The incumbent must select the best of several standard methods or test equipment approaches. Many pertinent guides are available, usually in the form of precedent situations, test plans and references on testing standards.
Work Direction and Latitude:
Work direction and test methodology is jointly defined with senior test personnel, supervisor and other members of technical engineering. Incumbent is typically limited by engineering principles, department operating policies and resource budgets, technical and schedule constraints imposed by Engineering. Some opportunity exists to exercise ingenuity in proposing and developing alternate test methods. Work is regularly reviewed for approach, accuracy, and adequacy.
Project Responsibility:
May lead small rig test programs or assist senior personnel on portions of larger, more complex programs. During testing, the incumbent coordinates resources, directs operations, ensures reliability of test results and communicates program status. Incumbent's activities typically involve moderate cost test articles and test facilities in a potentially hazardous test cell environment.
Liaisons:
Develops and maintains effective and frequent inter-organizational liaison with personnel from virtually all Engineering groups, the Test Laboratory and the Experimental Manufacturing Unit
Business Contribution:
Successful completion of testing activities supports overall product development or improvement programs of the Company's product lines
Preferred Qualifications:
* Basic vibration analysis experience
* Working knowledge of manufacturing and test operations
* Must have flexibility to support first or second shift work hours.
* Working knowledge of Control Software and Drawing Systems
* Understanding of Gas Compressor products
Summary Pay Range:
$87,456.00 - $131,184.00
