Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Temporary Traffic Control Manager to support various transportation and infrastructure projects within Montgomery County, Maryland. The ideal candidate will lead the planning, implementation, and management of temporary traffic control measures in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal standards. This position requires a strong emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance, communication, and field leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, and manage all aspects of Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) for a variety of projects and roadway types across Montgomery County.
  • Ensure TTC operations meet the standards set forth in the Maryland Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MDMUTCD), the Federal MUTCD, and Montgomery County specifications.
  • Supervise, guide, and support flaggers and field personnel, ensuring proper deployment and adherence to work zone safety practices.
  • Provide accurate estimates and oversee the layout and installation of pavement markings in accordance with project specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and detailed records of all TTC activities and modifications.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for TTC-related communications with internal teams, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, Maryland State, and Montgomery County safety apparel and work zone requirements.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills in fast-paced and changing field environments.
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling and responsiveness to project needs, including emergency or off-hours work as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be punctual, dependable, and adaptable to changing work environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of temporary traffic control for various types of projects and roadways.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, Montgomery County, and Maryland safety apparel requirements.
  • Understanding of flagging operations and responsibilities.
  • Certification in Temporary Traffic Control Management and Work Zone Safety Awareness.
  • Certified Flagger certification.
  • Knowledge of estimates, layout, and installation of pavement markings per Montgomery County and MDMUTCD/MUTCD standards.

This position requires a dedicated and detail-oriented individual capable of ensuring safety and efficiency in all temporary traffic control operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a similar role within the transportation or construction industry. Experience working with state or local transportation agencies. Familiarity with Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) guidelines.
