Role - Technical Writer

Location - Indore, MP- Work from Office

Requisition Description

A technical writer plans, creates, and maintains content for end-users as an integral part of the product development or user experience. The content is often in the form of user guides and static documentation sites, but may also be UI text, FAQs, videos scripts, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that is useful to their audience. In this role, you will join the product management team and collaborate closely with a senior technical writer and senior product manager. This role will involve interacting with diverse teams, including software developers, QA engineers, project/product managers, customer success specialists, tech operations, DevOps engineers, and the marketing team.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Content Creation: Plan, write, and format high-quality procedural documentation, including user manuals, quick start guides, testing manuals, FAQs, tool tips and error messages for software products.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and customer success to gather information, ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of documentation.
• Video Representation: Create video scripts for software product training and how-to-use videos, assist video creators produce accurate and effective videos.
• Version control and Tools: Develop markdown content for documentation sites using Hugo/Jekyll/Docusaurus (static site generators) and utilize tools like Visual Studio code and Git to maintain version-controlled content.
• Responsible: Ensure all documentation is user-friendly and tailored to the needs of the target audience, communicate status, concerns, and needs on time with the manager/stakeholders. Innovation: Stay current on emerging documentation trends and technologies.

Qualification:

• 3-7 years of professional experience as a Technical Writer or in a related role, preferably in the software industry.
• Be an expert with excellent comprehension skills, reliable editorial skills, and the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience with Markdown, HTML, and CSS is must.
• Familiar with technical writing best practices and style guides such as the Microsoft Writing Style Guide and Chicago Manual of Style.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
• Understanding of doc-as-a-Code principles and familiarity with version control systems like Git and GitHub.
• Familiar with video creation tools (such as Camtasia).

Nice to have but not mandatory:

• Certification in technical writing field or a related field.
• Familiarity with basics of computer networking or telecom domain services - Networking and Telecom.
