Summary:
Advanced Technology Systems Company in Gilbert, AZ is looking for an experienced Technical Writer.
The Technical Writer will use technical writing expertise to create manufacturing documentation and write technical materials such as equipment manuals, appendices, assembly instructions and operating and maintenance instructions. This position translates business specifications into user documentation. This position is familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Responsible for coordinating with subject matter experts to gather information for the required documents
* Document key process steps and current procedures
* Prioritize deliverables and timelines to meet organizational needs
* Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
* Maintain records and files of work and revisions
* Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel
* Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding
* Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts to illustrate material
* Study drawings, specifications, mockups and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail
* Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods
* Assist in laying out material for publication
* Analyze developments in specific fields to determine needs for revisions in previously published materials and development of new material
* Review manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment
Required Qualifications:
* Degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science or Engineering required
* 2-4 years of experience in engineering field (mechanical/electrical) required
* Must be familiar with development of military/DoD technical manuals and training materials
* Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and bill of materials(BOM)
* Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
* Experience in creating quality system documentation
* Detail oriented with strong follow through and organizational skills
* Self-motivated individual who can meet the challenges of a paperwork-intensive environment
* Be well organized, motivated, with analytical and capable problem solving skills
* Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize
* Excellent oral and written communication skills: editing, grammar, style, spelling, punctuation, proofreading skills, etc.
* Demonstrated ability to think strategically and independently
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
* Must be a U.S. Citizen
