About the Role
As a Technical Consulting Engagement Manager at MathCo, you’ll lead the charge in managing and growing client relationships, overseeing the successful delivery of high-impact technical programs, and driving long-term strategic value for one of our pharmaceutical clients in the Bay Area.
This role bridges the gap between technical execution and client strategy, serving as the central point of contact and trusted advisor across all stages of the client lifecycle—from pre-sales support to post-delivery outcomes.
Note: Given the project’s heavy focus on data engineering—specifically building scalable data quality management checks and a DQ engine—strong engineering experience is critical to success in this role. Candidates with a background in both engineering and the pharmaceutical industry are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Establish and nurture strong, strategic relationships with client stakeholders.
- Act as the face of MathCo on the ground—deeply understanding client goals, advocating for their needs internally, and ensuring satisfaction at every phase of engagement.
Project Oversight & Delivery Management
- Lead day-to-day execution of client projects, including defining scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Ensure solutions are delivered with quality, consistency, and speed—on time and within spec.
- Proactively identify risks and implement course-corrective actions.
Communication & Stakeholder Alignment
- Serve as key liaison between clients and internal delivery teams.
- Facilitate clear, consistent communication across stakeholders—addressing concerns, managing expectations, and driving transparency.
Solution Strategy & Development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, scientists, product managers) to shape and implement custom solutions that directly address client challenges.
- Translate business needs into technical strategies—and vice versa.
- Lead solution design efforts with a particular focus on data engineering best practices, including scalable data quality frameworks.
Performance Monitoring & Feedback
- Track program performance against success metrics.
- Regularly gather and assess client feedback to inform ongoing improvement and innovation.
Account Growth & Business Development
- Uncover opportunities for growth, expansion, and long-term retention.
- Independently handle decisions around project scope, staffing, invoicing, and resourcing—partnering with leadership only when needed.
What You Bring
- 4–8 years of client-facing program management experience, ideally in consulting or technical solution delivery.
- Strong hands-on experience in data engineering, data quality management, and scalable data frameworks.
- Experience working with or supporting pharmaceutical or life sciences clients (R&D, clinical, or commercial analytics a plus).
- Proven success managing stakeholder relationships, leading delivery teams, and scaling engagements.
- Technical fluency in cloud, data, or AI/ML environments.
- Confidence and autonomy in managing client needs, scope changes, and delivery timelines.
- PMP, Scrum Master, or related certification preferred.
- Based in or willing to travel regularly to the Bay Area (hybrid model preferred).
