Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our dynamic team at Sam's Club. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams across different geographies. This role involves overseeing the unification of tech stacks, managing migrations, and ensuring the successful implementation of new capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiative and Proactivity:
    • Take initiative in identifying and addressing issues without needing constant supervision.
    • Proactively manage tasks such as checking for anniversaries and birthdays, and ensuring timely communication.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Utilize tools like Jira and Slack for project management and communication.
    • Handle technical challenges, including managing security vulnerabilities and integrating third-party tools.
  • Cross-Functional and Cross-Geographical Coordination:
    • Manage teams across different time zones (US and India) and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Facilitate standups and status updates, ensuring all tasks are documented in Jira before meetings.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
    • Handle last-minute requirements and changes efficiently.
    • Conduct thorough impact analysis and propose feasible solutions, such as scope reduction or phased rollouts.
  • Communication and Transparency:
    • Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, keeping them informed and aligned.
    • Ensure transparency with the team and stakeholders about progress, risks, and blockers.
  • Team Motivation and Morale:
    • Motivate and support the team, especially during high-pressure situations.
    • Prevent blame games and ensure a positive work environment.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum Methodologies:
    • Run standups and manage sprints using agile and scrum practices.
    • Track and manage tasks using Jira.
  • Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills:
    • Manage detailed status updates and ensure all tasks are tracked.
    • Handle multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
Role-Specific Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
    • Oversee the unification of tech stacks across Walmart's various entities, including Sam's Club, Canada, and Mexico.
    • Manage the migration of capabilities to a new tech stack and ensure smooth implementation.
  • 24-Hour Support Cycle:
    • Ensure continuous support and coordination between teams in different time zones.
  • PI Planning:
    • Lead PI planning sessions and ensure deliverables are aligned with milestones.
Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical program management.
    • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams and handling technical challenges.
    • Experience with agile and scrum methodologies.
  • Skills:
Strong technical knowledge and experience with tools like Jira and Slack.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to motivate and support teams.

Organizational skills and attention to detail.
