Summary

The Technical Product Engineer II will assume a pivotal role in the conception, design, and development of cutting-edge software and hardware solutions tailored to our clients' specific needs. This position will involve extensive collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of robust and efficient products. They will use their previous experience to help inform decisions and make recommendations for Harbor’s products.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Utilize a clear understanding of good product development practices and implement, when necessary, on the team

Develop, design, and recommend hardware for various Harbor client projects

Engineer hardware solutions (PC / Display)

Light code development as needed/assigned for various Harbor client projects (AI Generated is acceptable)

Define solution bill of materials for customer quotes

Review and recommend architectural direction with the team, connecting the dots between the digital department disciplines

Design, modify, and test technical architecture (hardware)

Maintain thorough understanding of industry trends and competitor offerings through research, and propose changes when needed

Assist in developing product roadmap and strategy

Inform necessary stakeholders about any issues with current technical solutions in implementation

Handle prototyping and user testing

Work collaboratively with other work centers such as project management, customer support, production, cloud engineering, IT, to achieve project needs, internal goals, and foster open communication

Demonstrate a team-centered approach, a strong sense of responsibility and motivation, and a passion for new design, project variety, and problem solving

Utilize previous cloud experience and knowledge to optimize Harbor’s software offerings

Overflow IT support duties

Guide and advise more junior engineering team members as needed

Other duties may be assigned at any time

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field is preferred, but not required

3-5 years of experience in hardware (PC’s, servers, graphics hardware) and prototyping

1+ years of exposure to/familiarity with software engineering

Having built your own PC or worked with a single board computer (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc.) is a plus

Other Qualifications

Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve technical problems

Strong interpersonal communication skills
