Applications are invited for appointment as
Technical Officer/ Assistant Manager/ Manager (Intellectual Properties and Technology Transfer) (Ref.: H01/2025/0310) for managing the IP assets, technology transfer and other matters relating to the inventions of ABIC.
Job Description
- Collaborating with patent attorneys to prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications, managing patent portfolios, and ensuring timely renewals.
- Handling ABIC’s intellectual property assets, including patents, trademarks, datasets, copyrights, and trade secrets, and operating mechanisms for their protection and management.
- Facilitating the transfer of technology from research to commercial applications through licensing agreements, research contracts, joint-laboratory agreements, and other mechanisms.
- Compiling reports to university management teams, funding agencies and government departments.
- Writing, editing, reviewing and maintaining relevant legal documents.
- Keeping track of income generation, accounts receivables, and cost incurred relating to the use of ABIC’s IP assets, such as royalties, spin-off company equities, milestone payments, etc.
- Conducting due diligence in connection with transactions, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, laws and regulations
- Providing training to ABIC members on IP-related matters
- Handling other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor(s)
Skills And Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field, such as life science, medical engineering, or a related discipline
- Highly familiar with legal document handling, and excellent in professional business English writing
- A diploma/ professional certificate/ postgraduate qualification in intellectual property laws would be highly advantageous.
- A minimum of two years of experience in intellectual property management, technology transfer, or a related field, preferably within a university or research institution setting.
- Demonstrated experience in handling diverse IP portfolios, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, datasets, and trade secrets.
- Familiarity with relevant IP laws, regulations, government policies, and university best practices in Hong Kong and internationally.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese is essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- May require collaborative working modes in different labs and physical locations
