Summary

Responsibilities The Technical Writer will be: * Subject matter expert with the U.S. Navy on surface fleet maintenance policies and procedures for Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) systems, particularly technical data, which is recorded information regardless of format, such as manuals or drawings of a scientific or technical nature. * Develop moderately complex technical information, prepare written text and illustrations, and layout and organize technical documentation. * Develop technical documentation in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and in SGML using Arbortext Editor for the Navy Publishing Application (NPA) Contenta system. * Research and interpret design reports, drawings, equipment procedures, and test specifications. * Develop Drawings using CAD. * Write analytical and interpretive technical literature and procedures. * Communicate with engineers and other personnel for information gathering. * Perform Quality Assurance reviews. * Can be located in PA or VA. Hybrid position with possible occasional trips to Philadelphia. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism (or relevant discipline) and 3 years of related experience or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree will also consider an Associates & 6 years, or High School & 9 years of relevant experience * Must have at least 2 years of experience in the planning and preparation of various types of technical documentation * Experience in the detailed information search and interpretation of technical data in the preparation of technical documentation * Experience with CAD software for developing drawings * Familiarity with Military Documentation Standards (MILSTDS) * Must possess a strong background Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat * US Citizen with an Secret Clearance, or ability to obtain an interim secret clearance before starting Desired Qualifications * Experience in the planning and preparation of various types of technical documentation on Naval Ship Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E), Electronic and Weapons Handling Systems and Equipment along with experience in the detailed information search and interpretation of technical data in the preparation of technical documentation highly preferred. * Prior experience working on U.S. Navy and/or other DoD programs preferred. * Strong technical background * CAD expertise * Arbortext and Contenta experience Overview Noblis and our wholly owned subsidiaries, Noblis ESI, and Noblis MSD tackle the nation's toughest problems and apply advanced solutions to our clients' most critical missions. Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package. Posted Salary Range USD $57,800.00 - USD $90,350.00 /Yr.
