Process Technology Manager

Job Summary

The Process Technology Manager is responsible for leading the technical team in the maintenance and development of processes. This includes supporting Quality & Process Control with data analysis, specification setting, and developing test methods to ensure product conformance. This person will also guide the support of the technical team for Early Product Management projects and provide Plant Engineering with material properties and processing parameters to aid in equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Guide Process Engineers/Process Specialist in product and process improvements.
  • Lead projects to optimize process performance such as mixing cycles, output speeds, etc. without sacrificing product quality and technical performance.
  • Responsible for maintaining Masterbatch, Final batch Recipes, and Mix procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining Extrusion and Oven process parameters and settings.
  • Provide test parameters and test specifications for Mix/Mill Laboratory Equipment.
  • Provide leadership for the Early Product Management Pillar (EPM).
  • Provide technical guidance to plant management and staff.
  • Assist the process engineers with the transformation of new products and process ideas into production.
  • Assist/Lead in the evaluation of new raw materials or substitutions to ensure the best cost supplier requirements that support the business strategy while following Product Conformity guidelines.
  • Assist in evaluation and training for new process technology.
  • Utilize/Support/Lead statistical process control and WAM tools to improve processes and product performance and also using data get to root cause of problems that arise where production targets are not met because of material process issues.
  • Meet budget, time and performance requirements of technical processes and formulations.
  • Interact with technical and production team on a daily basis to ensure product meets the performance and cost requirements.
  • Attend and actively participate in industry association, plant, global and technical meetings as necessary.
  • Provides Manufacturing Cost input for quoting parts, adding parts, & building Standard Cost Model.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or better in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7 -10 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in a rubber manufacturing environment required.
  • Knowledge of polymer and rubber chemistry, thorough understanding of the curing rubber and the use of Rheometers and Mooney Viscometer. Foam rubber experience desired.
  • Solid understanding of statistical process control, DOE, and world class manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience of rubber processing: mixing, curing, extrusion and foaming.
  • Possesses professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to lead effective teams and manage others.
  • Proven experience in creating technical solutions.
  • Proven experience in project management and risk management.
