At GX India we are convinced that we can make a difference in today’s world, by combining state-of-the-art technology with a mission to provide open access to broadband networks based on fiber. With the GX India CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment), our customers can revolutionize the cost-base of their networks and create reliable and future-proof networks.
Our customers are worldwide network operators, providing open access to multiple service providers. With our subsidiary company “GX INDIA PVT. LTD. (GIPL)”, we introduce GIPL as one strong quality supplier in India, contributing to the growth of the Telecom sector in the World’s fastest-growing and emerging economies
Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our team and lead the development of cutting-edge Wi-Fi routers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both hardware and software development for networking devices, with expertise in designing, developing, and optimizing wireless communication systems. You will be responsible for driving the technical direction of Wi-Fi router products, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful execution of complex projects from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities:
• Technical Leadership: Provide expert-level guidance on all aspects of Wi-Fi router development, including hardware design, firmware development, and software integration. Lead and mentor a team of engineers across disciplines (hardware, software, and testing).
• Architecture Design: Lead the design and architecture of Wi-Fi routers, including the selection of hardware platforms (e.g., chipsets, RF components), antenna configurations, and software stacks (e.g., OpenWrt, custom firmware).
• Wi-Fi Standards & Protocols: Ensure that products comply with industry standards (Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, and future Wi-Fi 6E/7 standards) and optimize router performance, throughput, coverage, and stability.
• Firmware Development: Guide the development of embedded firmware for router devices, including low-level network protocol stack implementation, driver development, and optimizations for security and performance.
• System Integration: Oversee the integration of hardware and software components in the router development lifecycle. Ensure seamless interaction between the router firmware, hardware, and user-facing software (e.g., mobile apps, web interfaces).
• Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize Wi-Fi performance, including signal strength, range, and throughput, and address real-world challenges such as interference, multi-device management, and QoS (Quality of Service).
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers, and manufacturing teams to define product requirements, deliverables, and timelines.• Troubleshooting & Debugging: Lead the debugging and troubleshooting of complex issues related to hardware/software interactions, performance issues, and customer-reported problems.• Security: Ensure that Wi-Fi routers meet security best practices, including encryption standards (WPA3), secure boot, firewall configurations, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Project Management: Manage the technical aspects of product development, including setting milestones, tracking progress, and mitigating risks. Provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Innovation: Stay current with the latest developments in Wi-Fi technology, networking protocols, and wireless communication standards, and provide recommendations for future product features and improvements.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in embedded systems development, with at least 3-5 years of experience in Wi-Fi router design or related fields.
• Wi-Fi Standards & Protocols: Deep understanding of Wi-Fi standards (Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7) and the ability to apply these standards in real-world applications
• Embedded Firmware: Strong experience in embedded systems programming and firmware development using C/C , with a focus on network drivers, low-level system control, and performance optimization.
• Networking: In-depth knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and IP routing.
• Hardware Design: Familiarity with hardware platforms (e.g., Broadcom, Qualcomm, MediaTek), RF design principles, and experience with hardware debugging tools like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
• Wi-Fi Performance Optimization: Proven track record of optimizing Wi-Fi performance (range, speed, interference mitigation) in real-world environments.
• Security: Expertise in network security protocols (WPA2, WPA3, firewall configurations, VPNs) and best practices for secure Wi-Fi router development.
• Software Development: Proficiency in developing router software, including OpenWrt or Linux-based firmware, and integration with custom software solutions (e.g., mobile apps, cloud-based management).
• Team Leadership: Experience leading and mentoring a technical team, driving collaboration, and providing direction for complex engineering projects.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent debugging and analytical skills to troubleshoot hardware and software integration issues and optimize performance.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience working in an Agile development environment and using tools like Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipelines to manage project workflows.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience with wireless mesh networking, MIMO, beamforming, and OFDM technologies.
