We are currently searching for a talented Technical Designer to join our growing team! As Technical Designer, you will support the Product Team on all aspects of the product lifecycle from concept to final development with direction from the Head of Product on all Frances Valentine branded items. A critical member of the team, this role is pivotal in developing product that meets the aesthetic, quality and fit demands set by Design while achieving financial goals for the company.


Essential Duties:


Calendars

  • Review and adhere to Seasonal Calendars by Category and Monthly Delivery Drops – including milestones below, but not limited to: design kick off, new proto due dates, market sample due dates, costing due dates, sample fittings
  • Attend all meetings with Design and Production teams to ensure adherence to Calendar. 


Product

  • Measure and prepare garments and tech packs for fittings
  • Conduct fit sessions on live models, review overall fit, and confirm all details of all garments.
  • Correct and approve fit and construction for all garments throughout each stage of sampling and production. 
  • Communicate fit revisions and comments to overseas vendors.
  • Daily email communication with internal team and factories / vendors
  • Maintain a library of approved samples and patterns (as necessary).
  • Manage internal product WIP for all categories – track and order all protos and market samples.
  • Recommend construction and material options in order to hit financial requirements and maintain aesthetic and quality expectations. 
  • Organize Proto stage sample storage in the office during development and also Market Samples for Market.


Product Knowledge

  • Help to maintain Product Detail Sheets each season – which provide product info for the business units including, but not limited to: Style Details, Material Details, Size Specs, Design Inspiration, Fit Notes.
  • Work closely with the Creative team to ensure that all product that is shot for Marketing is correct and if not, advises product change information (Shared with Production based on timing).


Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Clo3D, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is required.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent life experience.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years in apparel technical design with strong knowledge of garment construction.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with a positive can-do attitude. 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are required. 
  • Ability to meet deadline demands.
