Summary

IT Infrastructure Manager is a pivotal role within the Information Technology (IT) team. This professional is responsible for overseeing and maintaining an organization's IT framework, ensuring that all technological systems function efficiently and reliably. The IT Infrastructure Manager plays a critical part in the strategic planning, implementation, and operation of IT infrastructure projects, positioning the company for success in an increasingly digital world. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of an organization’s technical infrastructure, including managing team members, coordinating IT projects, and ensuring systems and procedures lead to outcomes in line with business goals. This role requires some experience across networking, O365, Azure, GCP, and system administration in VMware, Unix, Mainframe.


Essential Functions

  • A deep understanding of network architecture, server management, virtualization, cloud computing, and data center operations.
  • Ability to manage large-scale IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring that objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues swiftly and efficiently.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity best practices, including knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Proven leadership qualities to manage and motivate a diverse IT team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ability to adapt to the rapidly changing IT landscape, staying current with new technologies and methodologies.
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure systems are maintained and updated accurately.
  • Competency in financial management to oversee infrastructure investments and operating costs.


Additional Functions

  • Network Management: Overseeing the setup, maintenance, and optimization of network systems, including LANs, WANs, intranets, and extranets. Ensuring network security and reliability are paramount.
  • Server Management: Managing physical and virtual servers to ensure high availability and performance. They are responsible for server installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Data Center Management: Supervising the operation of data centers, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and capable of meeting the organization's data processing needs.
  • Cloud Services Management: Integrating and managing cloud services to enhance scalability, flexibility, and cost-efficiency. This includes overseeing cloud storage solutions, virtual networks, and cloud-based applications.
  • System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Implementing and maintaining monitoring tools to detect and resolve system performance issues promptly. Ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance by troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • Security Management: Developing and enforcing IT security policies to protect against cyber threats and data breaches. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Disaster Recovery Planning: Creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a system failure or data breach.
  • Budget Management: Managing the IT infrastructure budget, including estimating, reporting, and controlling costs. Ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinating with external vendors and service providers to procure necessary hardware, software, and services. Negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Leading and managing the IT infrastructure team, fostering collaboration across departments to ensure IT solutions align with business needs. Providing training and development opportunities for team members.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as IT Infrastructure Manager, IT Manager or similar managerial role
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication abilities
  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus


Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • This position requires in person office presence at least 4x a week.
