Shift: 5:45pm-6:15am 12-hour continental schedule, 3 days one week, 4 days the following, off every other weekend
While reporting to the Site Manager, this position is accountable for the safety, quality, productivity, cost performance, and employee relations associated for an assigned production shift. This job requires leadership and the efficient use of resources (labor, materials, and equipment) to manufacture quality products at lowest possible cost. You will supervise and coordinate the activities of all hourly employees on an assigned shift. Position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepare job jackets including communicating to Shift Manager on any work order inconsistencies
Issue work orders to appropriate machines and operators.
Ensure material delivered to appropriate workstation.
Explanation of work order requirements and specifications to the operator.
Check and approve set up.
Make sure Operators use proper recipes
Check and approve finished goods ensuring specifications are met.
Prepare Work orders for maintenance.
Input approval on material rejection and rework in Shop Floor Program.
Communicate with IT to advise shop floor program problems.
Communicate with Shift Manager regarding machine and production problems.
Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job.
Ensure that cleaning and sanitation procedures are adhered to, Sanitation checklist is complete and preoperational inspection is performed.
Ensure that all quality checks for intermediate product are conducted and documented
Ensure that all combo jobs are slit according to Allergen Control Requirements
Ensure that CCP monitoring procedure is adhered to
Ensure that the Allergen Control Requirements are applied to RMA Rework and Internal Rework.

Ideas to improve the quality & efficiency in production
Review schedule status of the department with the schedule
Roll Call
Report all food safety violations to management
Other duties as assigned
Participate in Sonoco’s Performance System (SPS) activities as required – 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.
Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.

3-5 years prior manufacturing experience required, desire previous experience leading a crew/ team
Written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to do basic computations.
Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed
Demonstrated the ability to identify opportunities and lead improvements
Must have Knowledge of Computer Based Programs – Word, Excel, Power Point
Forklift driving experience is a plus
College experience/degree preferred but not required
