Responsibilities

We are seeking a Real Estate Tax Manager to join the Commercial Tax Services (CTS) Department. This is a hybrid position with the option to sit in the West Los Angeles or Woodland Hills, CA office. As a Real Estate Tax Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Review tax returns, tax projections, and tax workpapers.
  • Possess strong technical skills in Partnership taxation related to real estate entities.
  • Thorough understanding of Section 1031 exchanges, real property trade, or business elections, Section 163(j), and knowledge of state-specific issues.
  • Understanding and proficiency in partnership tax allocations, maintaining tax and economic basis capital accounts, section 754 and section 704(c) special allocations.
  • Possess strong technical skills in REITs, private equity real estate, and institutional clients.
  • Experience with various industries including real estate, construction, and manufacturing & distribution.
  • Provide effective consulting, planning and compliance for your clients.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day needs of clients and their tax returns, including identification and resolution of tax issues.
  • Perform tax research to resolve issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with a highly proactive approach to serving clients.
  • Coordinates with Partners to ensure timeliness and effective communication for proper planning of projects.
  • Coaching, mentoring and training staff.
  • Maintaining knowledge of new tax issues and general business trends that affect the client.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, Masters in Taxation is preferred, CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive public accounting experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of managing multiple client engagements
  • A track record of building and sustaining client relationships and high quality client service
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Proficient with CCH Axcess, Sureprep, BNA Income Tax Planner, CCH AnswerConnect, RIA Checkpoint, XCM and Microsoft Office
