Summary

We are looking for an LNG Tanks Inspector to join a major LNG project in Brownsville, TX. Per diem available.

Responsibilities

  • Functionally assigned to Brownsville, TX
  • Ensure the EPC contractor and subcontractors deliver the project in accordance with the City of Brownsville & Company standards, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance inspections, testing and verification of LNG Tank construction, making sure EPC Contractor abides by codes and best industry standards
  • Monitor day-to-day activities, including inspection and test plans (ITP's) for LNG Tank, including all equipment associated connections.
  • Ensure welding processes (particularly for 9% Ni steel) are followed by contractual requirements, including oversight of personnel performing welding and testing.
  • Review and verify NDE tests and collaborate with all team members to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Verify installation of insulation, heat tracing, tensioning cables, deluge systems, etc. are performed to project specifications.
  • Interact with team members from all parties embracing the One Team approach.
  • Identify, report and help close out any issues identified
  • Review and understand integrated project specifications and standards.
  • Communicate and liaise with Next Decade, inspector, engineering / technical support personnel to resolve quality related issues.
  • Review contractor’s inspection / surveillance reports - provide feedback as necessary to assure compliance with specification requirements.
  • Advise and inform the Quality Manager of Quality issues, status, and metrics.
  • Promote Quality awareness throughout the project.
  • Issue, process, and track project NCR’s and CAR’s written against the Contractor’s quality program or processes. Verify resolutions are implemented in accordance with approved dispositions.
  • Monitor, investigate, identify, and resolve project quality issues.
  • Review selected inspection assignment packages developed by the Contractor for content and completeness. (correct drawings, data sheets and specifications including addenda)
  • Follow-up on technical questions, problems, or non-conforming items identified by the Contractor and provide feedback to the Next Decade Quality Manager.
  • Assist with equipment / materials rejection and / or nonconformance resolution process.
  • Ensure efficient communication with the EPC company, operational and functional support team members.
  • Provide thorough and efficient documentation review, comments, and follow-up in a timely manner.
  • Prepare regular reports for the Quality Manager.
  • Input to the project Lessons Learned database.

Requirements

Minimum experience required for the position

  • 10+ years of experience working on major oil & gas projects
  • Knowledge and experience of construction methods of full containment LNG tank construction which includes knowledge of carbon steel, aluminum, and 9% Ni plate erection and welding, roof construction, and hydrotesting.
  • Understanding specifications, vendor procedures, instructions & codes with working knowledge of API-650, API-620, API-625.
  • Knowledge of welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, SAW and the use of Automatic Girth Welders, Down Flat Tractors, and automated isolation machines.
  • Technical knowledge of LNG tank building equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of requirements for cryogenic insulation (e.g., perlite).
  • Must be proficient in common PC software (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
  • Read, write, and speak fluent English with strong leadership and communication skills.
