Overview

Herzog Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Systems Engineer in Fort Worth, TX to join our team.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and recommend best practices for implementing and optimizing systems.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of the systems.
  • Conduct regular system updates, software patches, and upgrades following industry best practices.
  • Analyze, investigate, and create reports for incidents involving rail vehicle safety systems and associated back-office server and computer aided dispatch systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Assist project teams with the planning and implementation of complex field and office systems projects.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and system configuration.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to the systems being administered.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic understanding of networking, virtualization, and Active Directory Management
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems.
  • SQL Server administration and general knowledge is a benefit.
  • Experience with GIS mapping systems and procedures is a benefit.
  • Ability to stimulate innovative ideas and approaches to processes and opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders, team members, and end-users.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Railroad Operating Practices is a benefit but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of Railroad Signal and Communications systems is benefit but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of Railroad Computer Aided Dispatch systems is a benefit but not a requirement.
  • Previous PTC exposure is a benefit but not a requirement.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
