The Successful candidate will perform requirements elicitation using behavioral artifacts such as use cases that are used both to understand and to convey understanding of the required behaviors and performance of the system. Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, engineering estimates, and author and perform formal and informal engineering reviews. Candidate needs to have the ability to be flexible to support various tasking on short notice. Work will be performed under the direction of the Systems Engineering Manager and Product Owner, the Core Systems Engineering team lead, and support various project engineers as well as to interface with team members, management and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available. Responsibilities include adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts as-required. Candidate will be actively involved in the efforts associated with Agile development including iteration planning, providing status, and supporting agile team leadership.

Experience Required

  • The Systems Engineer must have at least 9 years of experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, and specialty engineers to develop solutions that includes a background in all aspects of the systems development life cycle
  • The Systems Engineer should have demonstrated contributions to implementation that includes the ability to analyze high level needs and defined a structured and logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that have led to a fielded product
  • The Systems Engineer should have demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively, clearly present technical approaches and findings, and have experience in writing and implementing engineering plans within a project
  • The Systems Engineer should have experience in interacting with the customer to elicit requirements as well as with stakeholders to convey an understanding of the intent of the requirements
  • Missile Defense System prior experience and familiarity is desirable
  • Experience with complex Command and Control Systems is desirable

Technical Skills Required

  • Candidate must possess an understanding of systems engineering process and principles
  • A successful applicant should have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions
  • Candidates must have experience in requirements elicitation including the use behavior diagrams as an analysis tool to understand and decompose requirements
  • Candidates should have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g. specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.)
  • Candidates should have experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software and specialty engineers to develop solutions
  • Excellent communications skills are required (written and oral) as is the ability to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings
  • Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project
  • Desired skills include experience working within an Agile development environment, experience with Systems Analysis, Metric Development and Architecture development

Education Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or Software Engineering
  • Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering or other Engineering discipline is desirable
  • Secret Clearance Required to start

$120,000 - $145,000 a year
