Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:

Administration, management, and support activities associated with the department’s Information systems as well as coordinating all services to be provided by the University Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) to the faculty, students, and staff of the University.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Internal contacts include department’s management in pursuit of quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement on the goals to meet needs dictated by the department. External contacts may include customers, vendors and the general public.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Systems Operations Lead as a Systems Administrator, you will use your expertise to help customers solve challenging problems through innovative technology solutions. You will work on exciting projects, future-proof your skills, and grow into your dream job.
  • The Systems Administror is responsible for supporting 24x7x365 daily operations of Endpoints, Applications, and Cloud Environments. This position will support On-Call rotation schedule that will provide 7x24x365 notification, escalation, and resolution of all severe technology issues impacting normal system operations and datacenter.
  • In this role, you will be responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of our infrastructure components. Support all aspects of IT infrastructure and/or application and system delivery. The Systems Administrator will assist in establishment and implementation of technical procedures, processes, documentation and standards for system and server platform, optimum performance, and recoverability of these services.
  • The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable with Microsoft cloud technologies, both from the IT infrastructure and IT applications perspective. The candidate must be a self-starter, quick learner of new technology (virtual infrastructure, containers, databases etc.), and be highly motivated.


CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Intermediate skill administering Microsoft Windows Active Directory environment including domain services, sites and services, users and computers, and group policy administration.
  • Intermediate skill administering Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • Intermediate skill in PowerShell v3 or higher.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Familiarity with GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure as code.
  • Administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Proficiency in DNS, Active Directory, SSO, Intune, Azure Active Directory, EntraConnect, Hybrid Exchange, SharePoint or Teams and how they integrate with larger Microsoft collaboration platform.
  • Intermediate experience Office 365 products Experience with design, planning and implementation of Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory
  • Experience with cloud-native SaaS solution management
  • Experience knowledge of Office 365 tools, functionality, migrations, and implementations in enterprise environments (including Exchange, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, on premise, online and hybrid).
  • Knowledge of Disaster Recovery and replication technologies.
  • Proven experience working with NAS and SAN devices such as EMC Xtreme IO, and EMC VNX storage arrays, and Azure/AWS Cloud Storage.
  • Proven experience working with the TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Networking VPN's, switching, and routing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer facing interaction skills.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or 3 years of System Administration equivalent experience; 3 years experience in a technical environment ITIL v3 or greater certifications, preferred.
