Tesla Energy is looking for an engineer who is passionate about the integration of software, hardware, and mechanical design, to drive the world's transition to a sustainable future. We emphasize collaboration in our work, and always encourage each other to have fun while we change the world together. * Perform system integration of next generation Tesla industrial energy storage * Design and implement next generation automated test infrastructure to fully capture BESS system with utilities sites with SCADA interaction * Lead and own firmware and software validation for new features, while capable of describing how the control system functions, interface with external parties, and evaluate how/can it be deployed in various applications * Identify, escalate, and resolve issues with hardware and firmware during system bring up, utility performance, and grid contingency testing * Debug and fix firmware and software issues on complex, high power/high voltage products * Be a key leader of FMEA as part of the product design, integration, and test process * Degree in engineering related field or equivalent experience * Experience with SCADA communication protocols, such as modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA * Ability to troubleshoot issues with multiple devices in TCP/IP networks * Ability to understand electrical drawings from site, design monitoring and control schemes, define tags/points list, program SCADA and Balance of Plant devices on site * Exceptional analytical problem solving skills, and able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems * Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability * Preferred: Fluent with the embedded microprocessor design process: compilers, debuggers, and Git * Preferred: Experience with renewable energy products and/or electricity distribution systems, (i.e. PV, Wind, BESS) * Preferred: Experience working with high power (50kW+) and/or high voltage (1kVDC, 480VAC) products * Preferred: Experience with programs such as MATLAB and Simulink modelling
