Summary

Our mission at Base is to fix the power grid and enable affordable and reliable electricity for all. To do that, we are building America's Next-Generation Power Company; the first engineering-led, technology-focused, R&D-driven electricity company. We are a team of tenacious engineers, operators, and creatives who have solved hard problems and are here to do it again.

We are looking for a System Design and Architecture Engineer to own the power, data, and control architecture for Base's battery and inverter system. You'll make system-level tradeoffs that impact performance, safety, and cost.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in electrical systems and experience designing across hardware, firmware, and mechanical boundaries.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the architecture (power, information, authority flows) for an in-house battery & grid tied inverter system.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • 5+ years expertise system design / architecture and integration for electronics systems - conversant in the trade space cost between batteries and inverters.
  • Strong understanding of cross-boundary failure modes, DFMEA & functional safety principles.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong firmware fundamentals.
  • Strong mechanical intuition.

If you're passionate about tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time, now is the time to join us. Together, we can usher in a new era of American energy abundance by developing the hardware, software, and deployment operations that make it possible.
