Purpose
Sustaining R&D engineering team members collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering and Divisional partners including Quality Assurance, Marketing and Regulatory Affairs, to balance the needs of both the Neuromodulation division and Operations. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to ensure commercialized products continue to meet the needs of our customers and improve patients’ lives.
Provides project support and executes activities to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance for the design of launched products while continuously improving their commercial value through end of life
Coordinates with internal functions and external suppliers to identify and execute sustaining projects
Applies project management and problem-solving skills to manage multiple activities concurrently. Develops products, materials, processes, or equipment for projects of moderate complexity. Under limited supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes, and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, and materials. Conducts exploratory and feasibility research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading Sustaining Engineering projects and activities:
- Collaborating with Operations team to achieve product standard cost targets
- Supporting product line expansions to achieve revenue growth opportunities
- Maintaining product quality, safety and compliance
- Supports Design Transfer activities from New Product R&D to Sustaining Engineering and Production.
- Partners with teams in problem-solving and driving efficient technical decisions.
- Develops product performance specifications and validated test methods.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Collaborates with Sustaining R&D Management to continually improve Sustaining, Neuromodulation and BSC.
- Supports design related CAPA projects, Value Improvement Projects (VIP), business continuity projects, as well as corporate strategic projects.
- Trained in all aspects of change management including Process, Design, Supplier Change, and New Product Introduction.
- Develops and implements supporting documentation in compliance with QSR and GMP and in alignment with the cross-functional team.
- Performs project planning in support of Sustaining projects and activities.
- Maintains compliance with all regulations governing the quality systems.
Educational Requirements
- Hons bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related technical field or equivalent experience.
- 4 year’s medical industry experience with design controls and process validation.
- Test method development and validation.
- Ability to provide technical leadership as it relates to product, design, and process.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
