Description

CPH is seeking a talented Survey Technician to join our office in Puerto Rico!

This is a great opportunity for a candidate who is seeking an opportunity for major growth and expansion in their survey expertise. This individual will be essential to the growth of our Puerto Rico office and staff, and as we progress, this individual will lead and manage the field crews for survey.

The primary function of this role will involve a diverse workflow, inclusive of field work and in-office responsibilities. The Survey Technician will be responsible for researching and preparing surveys in Civil3D for our engineering teams. Highly desired experience includes survey field work and research experience specific to parcels in Puerto Rico.

This position is open to presently licensed survey professionals along with recent survey graduates who are eligible to sit for their survey licensing examination in swift alignment with acceptance of the job offer if selected for the position.

Position Overview:


The Survey Technician is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings, maps, and plans using CAD software. This position requires close collaboration with surveyors, engineers, and other team members to ensure the accuracy and success of survey projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong expertise in AutoCAD with a focus in CAD’s Civil3D. A strong technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to staying current with technological advancements are essential.

Duties Include:

  • Active participation in routine field work, specific to survey.
  • Conducts research on parcels in Puerto Rico.
  • Extensive utilization of Civil3D to produce surveys for our engineering teams.
  • Develop and update survey drawings, maps, and plans using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project teams to ensure the seamless integration and execution of project designs.
  • Create topographical and utility surveys, converting field data into precise technical drawings.
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of all project deliverables.
  • Organize and maintain records of CAD files, drawings, and associated project documentation for efficient access and future use.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation from survey data and CAD outputs to support project needs.
  • Stay informed on advancements in CAD technology, software updates, and best practices in surveying and mapping.
  • Perform calculations for field crews and mapping tasks as needed.
  • Analyze deeds and other research materials to assist in survey deliverables.
  • Utilize project checklists to maintain consistency and meet compliance standards.
  • Continuously seek learning opportunities and adapt to new tools and techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying, civil engineering, and/or related field.
  • Eligibility to sit for the licensing examination in Survey is required/ presently licensed in Survey.
  • Recent graduates are considered upon receipt of a bachelor’s in civil engineering with eligibility for Survey licensure.
  • Candidates with existing professional experience in survey CAD drafting are highly preferred, but not required.
  • Field experience in survey is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with researching parcels in Puerto Rico is highly desired.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD platform, specifically Civil3D.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience in Commercial, Retail, Restaurant, and Industrial projects.
  • Adaptable and receptive to instruction from others.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, quality-conscious, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.

This position is in a professional office environment. The person in this role will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, and filing cabinets.

The person in this position may require sitting or standing for long periods of time and lifting up to 25 pounds.
