We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Survey Crew Chief to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for operating a total station instrument and data collector, GPS rover, and level rod, while completing essential field calculations. Your role includes cutting and clearing survey lines using hand tools, maintaining a clean work vehicle, following safety procedures, taking directions from Project Managers, and leading a survey crew.
Responsibilities
+ Operate total station instruments and data collectors.
+ Use a GPS rover and level rod effectively.
+ Complete basic field calculations.
+ Cut and clear survey lines with hand tools.
+ Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle.
+ Adhere to basic safety procedures.
+ Take directions from Project Managers and coordinate work efficiently.
+ Lead and supervise one or more individuals on a survey crew.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, preparing survey documents, and running crews.
+ Experience with boundary, topographic, wetland surveys, ALTA, and construction staking.
+ Create plats, drawings, as-built, tree and topographic surveys, and exhibits using AutoCAD.
+ Proficiency in using Trimble survey equipment.
+ Ability to communicate clearly with field crews, engineers, and project managers.
+ Strong skills in using total station, GPS, topography, and AutoCAD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma or G.E.D. required; formal training in a surveying-related field is a plus.
+ Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
+ Ability to work accurately and efficiently.
+ High individual moral and ethical character.
+ Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
+ Clean driving record.
+ Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®).
Work Environment
The role involves collecting field survey data for various types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA, wetland and tree locations, and construction layout. Proper PPE material will be provided. The job requires walking long distances in woods, wetlands, and marsh areas, and may involve exposure to bees, hornets, snakes, and other outdoor elements. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays involved, from 6 am to 3 pm, totaling 40-50 hours a week. The position is based in one location in the Savannah area.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
