What You Will Contribute To OHM Advisors
As a Survey CAD Technician, you will support the Field Services Survey team through CADD production and technical drafting. You’ll assist in creating detailed, high-quality survey deliverables that align with project goals and industry standards. You’ll work closely with surveyors and engineers to ensure accurate, efficient, and organized survey documentation.
Your Responsibilities
- Produce CADD drawings based on field-collected survey data.
- Assist in processing field data and creating design-ready base maps.
- Support drafting tasks related to boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
- Research public land survey records and integrate findings into deliverables.
- Prepare easement and right-of-way descriptions and drawings as needed.
- Perform occasional survey field activities such as leveling, topographic mapping, and construction layout.
- Review and apply standard specifications, contracts, and local ordinances.
- Maintain awareness of state and local surveying regulations.
- Communicate effectively with internal staff to support project needs.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Surveying, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years in Survey CAD drafting).
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with working knowledge of MicroStation, Carlson, and GEOPAK.
- Solid understanding of surveying principles, including boundary, topographic, and construction survey data.
- Strong mathematical skills, particularly in geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to interpret and process survey field data to produce accurate, design-ready base maps.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with project teams.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain required auto insurance per state law.
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoCAD certification.
- Familiarity with TDOT or other DOT survey standards.
- Experience with GIS software or integration.
- Exposure to a wide variety of surveying equipment and field practices.
