What To Expect
Tesla Manufacturing Engineering has the important role of designing “The Machine that builds the Machine”. We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce the power electronics that drive our cars and energy products. The role of the SMT Quality Technician is to support the PCBA team in producing world-class Power Electronics Boards.
What You'll Do
Able to read engineering drawings and specifications to understand manufacturing requirementsPerform visual and view/categorize Automated Optical inspection images of printed circuit board assemblies to ensure meeting IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 standards which include solder characteristics, components, and hardware for SMT assemblies, SMT Machine Set-up InspectionAble to view and interpret AXI images to provide feedback to the stake holdersPerform and record results of first article inspections of boards after SMT and Thru-Hole Assembly which includes presence/absence of components, part markings and component orientation and sign off as per the defined processesValidate BOM and deviations and highlight any inconsistencies with EngineeringRecord defect data of the PCBA assembly and recommend improvementsVerify incoming component values, manufacturer part number (MPN) descriptions, and update databaseAssist in failure investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action activities and quality improvement initiativesCollaborate with team members to improve yield and processes

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in PCBA Quality ControlExperience in a factory organization or Contract Manufacturing EnvironmentKnowledgeable about production quality metricsIPC-A-610 certifiedExemplary written communication and technical report writing skillsWell organized with meticulous attention to detailAble to problem solve and work with minimal supervision toward a stated goalAble to converse technically with engineers, leads and operatorsCQI (Certified Quality Inspector) from ASQ is preferredFamiliar with ESD/MSL requirements for components, PCB/PCBAs and 5S

Expected Compensation
$28.75 - $42.73/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
