Summary

What We're Looking For Baylor University is seeking a Support Coordinator, OALA Services to support the mission and vision of the University within the Office of Access & Learning Accommodation (OALA) by supporting delivery, coordination, and planning of services and programs for students with disabilities within the Office of Access and Learning Accommodation. With support from the Director of OALA, this role will support reviewing and managing a caseload related to temporary, short-term accommodations and assist with logistics related to assistive technology, transportation services, medical parking, and other accommodation needs. This role will support OALAs mission to create an inclusive and accessible environment. A Bachelor's Degree and three years of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another. Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis. What You Will Do * Maintain a specific case load that involves reviewing medical documentation and meeting with students for their intake process, and supporting them with managing temporary or short term accommodations * Troubleshooting and providing guidance and clarity to students, faculty, and staff around the implementation of accommodations * Work closely with the accessibility team to coordinate support and ensure best practices working with students with mobility and medical issues that necessitate specific temporary accommodations * Supports the institution by ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the rehabilitation act * Serving as the primary point of contact in a high traffic office to support students seeking campus accommodations through our transportation and shuttle services as well as coordination of medical parking * Coordinates and manages the daily shuttle service schedule and supervises student workers schedules to ensure timely pick up and drop off, providing timely responses to issues, delays, changes, or adjustments to avoid gaps in services * Managing all transportation related inquiries via email, phone, and in-person * Ongoing training and onboarding of student workers throughout the academic year and ensuring matters of risk, liability, and safety training are discussed, learned, and implemented by staff * Support the OALA office with efforts involving assistive technology, including text to speech software, screen readers, digital books, and other needs * Facilitate rendering of other accommodation needs that support accommodation specialists and the OALA testing center * Responsible for day-to-day supervision of student workers, both undergraduate and graduate, who will support the efforts and needs of the OALA office and coordination of services * Maintain regular communication and strategically coordinate the schedules of students to most strategically support OALA * May also involve corrective action plans with student workers if a need arises * Maintain records and data related to services and have the ability to prepare evaluation reports for internal and external review, inform budgetary decisions, and assist in establishing and enforcing OALA standards, policies, and procedures * Ability to engage in effective, strong, and collaborative work relationships and communication with multiple offices and partners to ensure that services and logistics run smoothly and lead to a positive experience for students with disabling conditions and mobility issues * Engage in profession development and training from OALA leadership to stay current in office policies, processes, and best practices * Proactively communicate any gaps in services, knowledge, and processes they identify in order for OALA staff and leadership to remedy these or provide any necessary support to ensure compliance with ADA as well as meet the mission, vision, and goals of OALA * Maintain regular and consistent 1-1 with meetings with director of OALA to review and discuss any necessary issues and to develop timely solutions and action plans * Attend OALA staff meetings and engage in professional development activities through training, professional memberships, and conferences as time and budget allows * Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission * Ability to comply with university policies * Maintain regular and punctual attendance What You Can Expect As part of the Baylor family, eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous time off, tuition remission, and outstanding automatic retirement contributions.
