Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association (DNDA) has a mission to integrate Art, Nature, and Neighborhood to build and sustain a dynamic Delridge. DNDA’s programming provides vital resources for our community that include access to affordable housing, green space, healthy food, education, arts and culture.


Position Description:

DNDA’s Summer Program Assistant position will directly support our Summer Youth Environmental Justice program. As part of that program, this position will assist in leading a group of 10 high school-aged youth in a paid summer internship. The Summer Youth Environmental Justice program will focus on the historical ecology of our local landscape, specifically at Roxhill Bog in South Delridge. This position will provide support in leading youth interns in exploring how Indigenous people have co-existed with the land, the ways in which the land has changed over time, and what we can do to make sure we co-create a future of Environmental Justice. This position will require integrity and accountability when doing work with partners and in the community by working collaboratively with youth participants, community organizations, and staff as we serve predominately people of the global majority (Black and POC). The Summer Program Assistant position will report to DNDA’s Environmental Education Coordinator.


Position Status:

This is a temporary, part time, 8 week position. Work days are Monday – Friday working 6 hours during the week from 10am - 4pm. The time frame of this position is from June 23rd – August 16th, 2025. Compensation is $25.00 per hour. This position does not include paid time off benefits or medical insurance.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in leading youth interns for DNDA’s Summer Youth Environmental Justice program.

• Assist in facilitating activities and program time during the summer program including sharing knowledge and history of Environmental Justice topics, as well as field trips and engagement opportunities with local organizations.

• Prepare materials and supplies for the weekly activities.


Required Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience working with high school aged youth.

• Knowledge of positive youth development framework or interest in gaining experience.

• Experience in facilitating and/or leading hands-on workshops and activities.

• Ability to work with a diverse range of community groups, partners, and staff.

• Leadership skills, and confidence in giving direction to youth participants.

• Commitment to including and amplifying the voices of those who have been historically excluded from power and decision-making.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Physically able to work long days in adverse weather conditions.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and move body in uneven terrain.

• Positive attitude, energetic personality, and sense of humor.


Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working with, supporting, and uplifting BIPOC high school aged youth.

• Knowledge of Pacific Northwest ecology.

• Knowledge of local watersheds.

• Experience with Environmental Justice work, and facilitating discussions about Environmental Justice work.

• Knowledge of local environmental justice issues especially local history of the changes and challenges in/around Seattle, the Duwamish River, and the Longfellow Creek watershed.
