Job Summary/Basic Function
While this position lasts the full summer, flexible scheduling of work hours is possible outside of the lifeguard training sessions (May 28-31, July 1-5, July 9-12).
- Be the primary point of contact for lifeguards before arrival on site for training/recertification
- Coordinate arrival in Bemidji for lifeguards and ensure smooth plans for housing, meals, and transportation for lifeguards during training, including driving a van to transport lifeguards as needed
- Track how many lifeguards will attend each CLV -provided training, gathering necessary information from them in advance of training, and organizing documentation and reimbursements for lifeguards receiving training elsewhere prior to camp
- Communicate and collaborate closely with the trainer as well as relevant staff on Programs and Health & Wellness teams on scheduling, documentation, and certifications
- Communicate and collaborate with deans, program directors, and other administrative staff as needed throughout the summer
- Continue regular communication with waterfront managers and lifeguards during the summer to provide ongoing support and ensure procedures for waterfront activities and equipment are followed per ACA standards
- Work with ACA committee as needed on waterfront-related documentation and preparation for reaccreditation visit (coming up in 2026)
- Complete the Red Cross Lifeguard Management online course
- Assist individual village personnel with the purchase of aquatic materials, in compliance with budget
- Respond to emergency aquatic incidents as needed
- Maintain updated written aquatics information that supports program goals, operational initiatives, and regulatory agency requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective communication about the aquatics programs with program stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications
- Broad familiarity with the Language Villages’ philosophy
- At least 24 years old.
- Demonstrated history of effective work at a Language Villages waterfront
- Ability to effectively communicate in English and at least one target language. English skills must be effective in both spoken and written modes, and include the ability to communicate via email and effectively create, revise and/or edit written materials.
- Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, database and email protocols.
- Experience in collaborating with others to accomplish work product as well as evidence of accomplishing tasks without direct supervision.
- Detail-minded; able to multi-task in fast-paced, changing environments
- Insurable driving record.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with positivity and flexibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Concordia Language Villages experience as a counselor highly preferred
