About The Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Teacher, Valley Community School, with indirect supervision by the Principal and Vice-Principal, performs a variety of routine tasks to assist and supervise students attending Valley Community School and incarcerated at the Juvenile Hall. This position is included in the classified bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity.

Requirements / Qualifications

The following must be submitted by the deadline date: *Complete online application *Resume *Unofficial College Transcripts (if you have over 48 college units completed or completed AA degree) or passing score on HART proficiency test (if applicable) -Upon hire must present TB clearance, high school diploma, and official transcripts (if applicable). CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS: New employees must pass proficiency test. Ability to read simple instructional literature and correct students' grammatical errors; comprehension of simple mathematics, including fractions. Ability to understand and effectively deal with troubled and/or incarcerated teenagers. Proof of valid CA driver’s license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law.
