About The Role
We are seeking a Substation Construction Manager with demonstrated expertise in substation construction management to support multiple high-visibility projects for a leading utility client. This role requires strong leadership, scheduling acumen, and field execution skills. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving the successful execution of substation projects in coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the field execution of multiple substation construction projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Supervise and manage a team of construction representatives across various project sites.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to develop and maintain detailed construction schedules and ensure alignment with project milestones.
- Serve as a key liaison between engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure timely execution and resolution of issues.
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent the organization in construction-related meetings with the utility client.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Support the coordination of contractor mobilization, work sequencing, material delivery, and quality assurance.
- Provide leadership in the field to drive accountability, performance, and clear communication across all levels of the project.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of relevant substation construction experience with an Associate Degree, or 6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience managing multiple construction representatives or field teams.
- Strong understanding of substation systems, civil and electrical construction practices, and utility standards.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing construction schedules.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple project sites as needed.
Key Nice-To-Haves
- Prior experience supporting EPC or utility clients on substation construction projects.
- Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
