Summary

SIX MONTH INTERNSHIP Central San is a special district that provides wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal services; recycled water production and distribution; and household hazardous waste collection. This internship is 40-hours, Monday through Friday, for six-months and located onsite in Martinez. This assignment provides an opportunity for students to apply their academic preparation to practical work experience in a wastewater utility environment. Students interested in applying for the following position should submit a cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcript(s) at [email protected]   Plant Maintenance Division   Reliability Engineering Intern (one position) This position is assigned to the Operations Department, a 54 million gallons per day water resource recovery facility and will work with licensed engineers. Duties will include engineering projects to improve plant operational efficiency and/or evaluating performance of processes or equipment and regulatory projects to ensure compliance with the treatment plant's operating permits. The performance of these projects will enable the student engineer to get "hands-on" experience while utilizing his/her engineering training. Additional responsibilities will include coordination with other engineering disciplines and contractors, and working closely with the plant operators. Typical projects might include data analysis of process and energy data, assisting with emission source testing and sampling, evaluating chemicals and processes, monitoring process performance, control analysis of process equipment, and other short-term engineering projects.   Preferred Qualifications - Central San is seeking students with chemical, civil, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering majors. Students should have knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, hydraulics, chemistry, and computer spreadsheet development. In addition, knowledge of instrumentation and controls is helpful. Should have ability to organize work assignments; learn to use packaged software; and write clear, concise reports.   To be eligible, must be a current student with junior or senior standing, or a recent graduate (graduated within the past 12 months).
