Summary

Job Summary

The Student Development Specialist II - New Student Programs Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of New Patriot Orientation (FTIC and transfer) and first-year programming. This position also provides support to the Department of Student Engagement.

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Supervise and coordinate new student orientation programs (first-year orientation). This includes but is not limited to: host orientation sessions during the academic year; develop and implement online orientation; conduct regular program assessment and implement changes as needed. 
  • Coordinate first-year programming and supervise first-year programming student workers. Expand experience programs including sophomore, junior, senior, remote campus students, etc. 
  • Select, train, and supervise orientation and camp staff. This includes student transition coordinators, orientation leaders, and camp leaders. 
  • Assist with student engagement initiatives as required, including but not limited to: student activities, Greek life, University Center, student organizations, and office customer service. 
  • Conduct assessments and create reports for areas of responsibility, participate in university committees, support department and division programs.

 

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Master's degree in a related field. 
  • One year of experience in orientation and new student programs. Familiar with student development theory. 


Required Education/Experience

  • Master's degree in college student affairs, counseling, higher education, or related field preferred. 
  • Two or more years' experience in orientation and new student programs. Relative experience in student activities, program planning, volunteer programs, student organization advising, or leadership program/event development. experience in student learning and development theory.
