Position Description School Coordinator of College Access & Student Success Overview: The School Coordinator of College Access & Student Success is a highly visible leadership position focused on developing and sustaining a supportive, productive, and enriching College-driven school culture and climate. This position plays an instrumental role in establishing and reinforcing high expectations for positive student behavior and leads efforts for student success through Kinder to 12th school district. This person will also lead to address college preparations comprehensively and ensure that every student is provided with the necessary academic support to achieve. This position coordinates all activities that contribute to the school’s student support services team. Individuals will oversee Wellness Center, Family Engagement Unit, and Family Support Center. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Management Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs at the High School level and contributes elements of student success and college readiness to the school-wide curriculum. Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate for expansion K-12. Directs college access soft skills curriculum by monitoring syllabi, course overviews, and lesson plans for all staff. Maintain internal and external assessment systems and help teachers use assessment data to further improve culture and climate in the school district. Manage academic support programs such as Leadership academies, internships, college preparation courses and college driven culture project base learning activities to build student leadership, pride and competition. Builds a spirit of entrepreneurship among students and staff. School Culture Lead the school’s character development program and ensure it builds and reinforces positive self-identity and necessary character strengths. Partner with parents and families to build an authentic school-wide community. Coordinate and implement a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences. Drives implementation of school-wide behavior management and reward system. Develop and implement the rituals, routines, and celebrations that ensure a culture of academic success. Ensure a professional and college preparatory climate across all schools. Coach and support administrators, counselors, and staff in driving our high achievement culture. Support teachers in building meaningful relationships with students and parents. Coordinates workshops and other parent programs focused on social-emotional learning and college access Student Academic and Social Development Oversee student multidimensional development to include: Intellectual Development: developing skills for acquiring and communicating knowledge, learning how to learn, and how to think deeply. Emotional Development: developing skills for understanding, controlling, and expressing emotions. Social Development: enhancing the quality and depth of interpersonal relationships, leadership skills, and civic engagement. Ethical Development: formulating a clear value system that guides life choices and demonstrates personal character. College competencies to drive culture of excellence. Develop programs on five core SEL skill sets (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making). Develop systems and programs to support students that struggle with our high achievement culture. Monitor overall academic progress for students. Intervene with support when students have challenges with attendance, academics, or discipline. Oversee academic advising for all students through collaborative efforts with direct reports, teachers, enrollment office, and school principals. Collaborates with teaching and support staff in developing and implementing classroom and school practices that will support the child’s emotional, physical and education needs. Collaborate with LEAP Academy leadership and staff, including the Special Education Coordinator, in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of classroom and school wide practices that support student success in and out of school. School Academic Success and Growth Management Facilitate the management of student success alerts management system, tracking student enrollment and retention data and conducting training, outreach and development of initiatives to improve retention and graduation rates. Manage interventions for at-risk students with assistance of direct staff report, principals, social workers, and Health and Behavioral Health staff. Facilitate data analysis, tracking, reporting and assessment of transition, retention and persistent programs for LEAP Students. – (transition from 5-6; 8-9; and 11-Early college- Early College to University). Oversee the College Access (k-11) team’s advising efforts, student programming and internship, academic performance monitoring, and interventions. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month contracted position. EVALUATION: Annually according to state statute and rule and Board policy.
