We are seeking a Structural Steel Design Engineer with a focus on utility
structures such as transmission poles, lattice towers, and substation support
structures. This position will play a critical role in delivering efficient and reliable steel
solutions to major utility projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis and design of new utility structures using established
engineering practices and software.
Design and evaluate transmission poles, lattice towers, and substation steel
support structures.
Review geotechnical reports and design concrete foundations in compliance with
ACI 318.
Ensure designs meet industry codes and standards, including ASCE 7, IBC,
ASCE 48, and NESC 2017.
Analyze wind and seismic loads to determine structure base reactions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, high-quality project
delivery.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred)
Proficient in AISC structural steel design and connection design
Knowledge of ASCE 7, IBC, ASCE 48, NESC 2017, ASCE/MRE 113 and related
codes
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced
environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PLS-POLE, MFAD, and other FEA software
Familiarity with utility industry requirements and structure optimization
Ability to advise and make recommendations to customers as necessary about
their structure and its ability to meet the requirements of the current industry
standards and codes.
Possess the ability to think outside the box and the willingness to offer
improvements.
