Structural Engineer

The Structural Engineer will support the design teams with varying degrees of direct project responsibilities while maintaining an in-depth knowledgebase of the telecommunications site development process. Project work will focus on new site development of macro and small cell sites, the modification of existing telecommunications facilities, and other project types as required. Responsibilities will focus on engineering tower and compound as well as maintaining effective job flow while managing multiple projects. Senior Engineer assists the NB+C manager with the delegation of assignments, resource allocation, and the oversight of quality and timeliness of deliverables while utilizing an understanding of client-specific telecommunications equipment and their usage.

Job Responsibilities

• Expertise in structural engineering concepts as it relates to telecommunications facilities for towers, rooftops, water tanks, etc.
• Provide quality control and in-depth forensic investigations for proposed tower and mount reinforcement designs
• Develop construction plans for telecommunications client equipment upgrades and modifications
• Analyze and design all types of structural support designs using building materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, light-gage, and wood
• Perform calculations conforming to building code requirements for structural design and analysis
• Interact with internal multi-disciplinary team members to expedite project completion and approvals
• Create effective job flow by tracking assigned tasks and prioritizing completion of assignments accordingly
• Learn new telecommunications equipment and client-specific equipment and their usage
• Evaluate designs for constructability and provide creative solutions for cost-effective tower and mount reinforcement designs
• Perform, review and approve structural analysis reports, construction drawings, and other construction contract documents with a high level of accuracy and strict attention to detail
• Collaborate with NB+C manager and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient, effective, and innovative approach to meet the client’s needs
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineering team members
• Assist the NB+C manager with the daily operations of the engineering team
  
  

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
• 5+ years’ engineering experience required
• EIT required, PE preferred
• AutoCAD required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Structural engineering software experience required (RISA 3D, Enercalc, tnxTower, Mathcad)
• Professional and applicable understanding of the principles of the following knowledge area: civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering
• Competency in reading, understanding and interpreting complex building, tower, structural, and construction drawings
• Engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards
• Ability to review and analyze site documentation and gather necessary information to complete the assignment
• Knowledge in construction practice and principles
• Ability to research and draw upon engineering knowledge to yield feasible and creative solutions
• Critical thinking and problem solving for complex designs
• Ability to work autonomously without supervision required
• Telecommunications and/or utility experience required, structural analysis and design experience required
• Practical knowledge of all telecommunications site development disciplines, including site acquisition, land use, construction management, and RF
• Industry knowledge and technology trends preferred
• Experience in developing and reviewing project quality plans, contract documents and project specifications
