Summary

Job Title: Structural Designer 6

Location: Preferred - WHQ (Overland Park, KS)

Alternate Locations: Ann Arbor (MI), Raleigh (NC), Houston (TX), Jacksonville (FL)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Structural Designer 6 to support nuclear projects. The ideal candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, possess extensive structural design experience, and demonstrate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam. Prior experience with nuclear projects is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering Standards & Quality Assurance:

  • Utilize and provide guidance on engineering standards, systems, document control, and departmental procedures.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with project-specific codes and standards.
  • Promote quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement throughout the design process.
  • Maintain control and records of design documents according to project requirements.

Design & Engineering Production:

  • Develop moderately complex structural design concepts based on engineering principles.
  • Perform and review design calculations, material quantity estimates, and related documentation.
  • Use advanced modeling and design software such as Revit and Bluebeam.
  • Review work from other designers and engineers for consistency and accuracy.
  • Assist in defining work assignments and project schedules.

Project Coordination & Field Support:

  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure a coordinated design effort.
  • Support field activities and communicate design requirements, progress, and milestones.

Client Focus:

  • Understand client needs and incorporate them into design strategies.
  • Communicate client priorities to project teams to ensure alignment and satisfaction.

Knowledge Sharing & Innovation:

  • Contribute to the development of design standards and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify training needs and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Recognized for expertise in one or more technical areas within structural design.

Team Leadership & Resource Management:

  • Supervise and mentor junior design staff.
  • Assist with staffing decisions and monitor resource availability and project alignment.
  • Participate in performance evaluations, career development planning, and team training.

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam, CADD, and related design/modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, systems, and document control protocols.
  • Familiarity with construction practices, procurement processes, and project estimating.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance programs and cross-discipline coordination.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design-Related Technology (preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant structural design experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required (due to the nature of the projects).
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and MVR (if applicable).
