Summary

Job Description

Our client is searching for Structural Engineering candidates (with a PE designation) to join their Engineering team in Maitland, FL (just north of Orlando). The successful candidate will have a strong background in wood/masonry structures, framing systems, and foundation analysis and design, across both residential and commercial project types.

Responsibilities

  • Take design lead and certification on projects while coordinating with internal and external clients to meet on-time and under-budget delivery goals
  • Perform conceptual to final design and certification of residential and commercial projects
  • Prepare calculations and details of structural elements for commercial projects
  • Draft project plans using AutoCAD, as assigned
  • Assist in construction support activities, including responses to RFI's, submittal reviews, site/design reviews, etc.
  • Coordinate work product with other disciplines
  • Provide updates to superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors as necessary
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support positive company image
  • Interpret engineering specifications, process design drawings, and contracts
  • Manage staff, direct tasks, and perform Quality Assurance reviews

Skills And Abilities

  • Strong technical skills with excellent attention to detail and quality
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and able to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD (2D), and Risa 3D
  • Knowledge of Florida and International Building Codes and Design Standards
  • Understanding of structural systems including concrete construction (up to 3 stories), shallow/deep foundations, metal plate connected wood trusses, engineered wood products, and steel, wood, masonry structures

Qualifications

  • Florida PE License
  • 3-5 years of experience in structural engineering of wood and masonry structures
  • AutoCAD 2D intermediate/expert proficiency (Revit a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Risa 3D
  • Willingness to work 40+ hours during some weeks; salary commensurate with experience
