Job Title: Structural Engineer - Project Manager (P.E.)

Location: Austin, TX

On-site / Full-Time

$90,000 - $130,000


A well-established, forward-thinking engineering firm is looking for a Structural Project Manager to lead the delivery of structural engineering projects in a growing office located in Austin, TX. This is a leadership-focused position ideal for a licensed professional engineer with at least 6 years of design and project management experience. The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from concept through construction, serving as Engineer of Record, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to business development efforts. The Structural Project Manager will report to the VP of Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities:


Project Leadership

  • Act as Engineer of Record for assigned structural projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with scope and client expectations.
  • Oversee the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and design calculations.
  • Perform and enforce rigorous QA/QC procedures on all engineering outputs.


Team Management & Mentoring

  • Guide and support junior engineers through the design and documentation process.
  • Foster an environment focused on learning, growth, and collaboration within the team.


Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Prepare fee proposals and scopes of work for potential and existing projects.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Assist with business development strategies, including attending networking events and supporting marketing efforts.


Technical & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Stay current on industry codes, materials, and structural innovations.
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure integrated project delivery.


Leadership Development

Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a structural focus.


Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural engineering design and project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience conducting QA/QC reviews and overseeing construction document production.


Skills

  • Proficient in structural design tools such as Revit, RAM Structural System, RISA, or similar.
  • Strong grasp of relevant building codes and industry standards (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.


Licensure

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • Additional certifications such as LEED or Structural Engineer (S.E.) license are a plus.
